BIOGRAPHY:
Charlie Puth is an American singer and music producer, working in the genre of pop music and R&B. Charlie attracted the attention of fans not only with tracks that top the music charts and break sales records, but also with romances with popular actresses and singers.
Childhood and youth:
Charlie Puth was born on December 2, 1991 in Rumson, USA. The mother of the future singer, Debra, was Jewish by nationality, taught music, and also collaborated with the American television network HBO. My father was engaged in construction and worked as a real estate agent. In addition to Charlie, the family has two younger children – twins Steven and Michaela.
At school, Charlie was a prankster. One day, a teenager rang the bell 15 minutes before the school day was supposed to end and was almost suspended from school for doing so.
Puth took up music largely thanks to his parents. His mother introduced the future singer to the world of classical music and began teaching him to play the piano at the age of four. At the age of ten, Charlie began studying jazz, and at the age of 12 he participated in the summer youth jazz ensemble at the school at the Count Basie Theater.
Charlie recorded his first album in the sixth grade. The collection was released in honor of Christmas and was called Have a Merry Charlie Christmas. Puth went door to door with it and eventually sold $600 worth of copies. Later, the future singer attended the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, where he studied jazz piano.
In 2013, Puth graduated from Berklee College of Music, where he studied music production and engineering.
Music:
In 2009, the young singer started a YouTube channel: on Charlies Vlogs, he posted comedy videos and acoustic cover versions of popular songs. The very next year, Charlie Puth released a video for his first song, These Are My Sexy Shades.
At the online video competition Can You Sing? (2011) Puth performed a cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You” with Emily Luther and received first place. Thanks to this victory, Charlie signed a contract with Ellen DeGeneres’s Eleven DeGeneres label, attended her show, but ended his collaboration with the brand at the end of 2012.
In February 2015, Puth’s debut single Marvin Gaye, recorded together with Meghan Trainor, was released, and in April the singer released a second single called I Won’t Tell a Soul.
In the same year, Puth took part in another joint project and, together with rapper Wiz Khalifa, recorded the song “See You Again” – the soundtrack to the crime action film “Fast and Furious 7”. The composition received many nominations, including three Grammy Awards, BBC Music Awards, and a Golden Globe.
At the beginning of 2016, Puth’s debut album Nine Track Mind was released, which took 6th place on the Billboard 200. In March, the artist went on his debut live Nine Track Mind Tour in support of this record. The disc went platinum in England, Denmark, France and double platinum in the USA.
In addition to the release of the first collection, 2016 was significant in the singer’s career with the conclusion of a contract with Deutsch Music. The agency took upon itself the implementation of creative projects and the creation of a brand for the rising star.
Already in May 2017, Charlie performed his new song Attention live for the first time on the American reality show “The Voice”. Puth made three more television appearances in 2016–2017: in the sitcoms Undateable and Life in Pieces as himself, and in the reality music competition Drop the Mic, where he appeared with the Backstreet Boys.
In May 2018, the artist released his second studio album entitled Voicenotes. The collection was supposed to be released at the beginning of the year, but Puth delayed the release date in order to polish it and redesign the cover. The disc was nominated for a Grammy, but, unlike Nine Track Mind’s debut, it could only receive gold status in Canada, the USA and New Zealand.
Over the summer, Puth toured North America in support of the album, joining Hailee Steinfeld as a special guest on the Voicenotes Tour. The tour began in Toronto, Canada and ended in Japan.
During the pandemic, the singer’s discography was replenished with non-album singles Easier (Remix) in collaboration with 5 Seconds of Summer, Hardon Yourself in collaboration with Blackbear. The composition After All, recorded with Elton John, was included in the British singer’s collection The Lockdown Sessions.

Personal life:
Selena Gomez:
In 2016, Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez released the song “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and became briefly close during this period. The romance was stormy, but short and left the performer with mixed feelings. The singer admitted in an interview that the reason for the breakup of their relationship was Selena’s love for Justin Bieber.
Bella Thorne:
The handsome performer (height 180 cm, weight 74 kg) was also caught kissing actress and singer Bella Thorne on the beach. At that time, she had just broken up with her boyfriend, actor and singer Tyler Posey. Photos of Charlie and Bella kissing appeared in the press, and rumors immediately spread that the girl had not actually broken up with Tyler, but was dating two guys at the same time.
Believing these rumors, Charlie made several rash posts on Twitter. Angered by this, Bella broke off her fledgling relationship with Puth and spoke very unflatteringly about him in the press. The rumors ultimately turned out to be false and were based on an old article where Bella and Tyler appeared together.
There were also rumors that Puth was dating singer Meghan Trainor. The couple showed the public a passionate kiss at the 2015 American Music Awards show, where they performed the Marvin Gaye hit, but it was part of the performance, and in fact, Charlie and Megan are just friends.
In 2019, it became known about changes in the performer’s personal life: the aspiring singer and model Charlotte Lawrence took his heart. The young people appeared together at official events, but already in 2020 the couple broke up.
Judging by the photo in the singer’s verified Instagram account (the social network is banned in Russia, it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation), his heart is now free.

Character:
Despite his status, Charlie is a compassionate and extremely empathetic demon. She is genuinely upset by the thought of harming other demons.
Although she knows that souls go to Hell for a reason, but because of their terrible deeds, Charlie still considers the Extermination pointless. Her main personal goal is to help sinners escape this through self-improvement and perhaps redemption. However, it seems that Charlie is the only one who believes in this.
Charlie’s habit of idealizing everything around her sets her apart from many of her peers in Hell. Charlie is naive to the many harsh realities that stand in the way of her success. Her girlfriend Vaggie constantly reminds her of this, but all arguments are broken by Charlie’s sunny optimism. This leads to Charlie mindlessly rushing into the early stages of her plans without preparation (her list of tips before performing on a TV show only contains “unicorns kissing, dolphins high-fiving, singing TV show tunes = happy ending?”).
Charlie loves musical theatre, song and dance, and often conveys his ideas and emotions through show tunes and ballads. She takes failures hard because she believes that her sincere passion for theater should be enough to make people think the same way. Charlie openly admits this when he sends a voicemail to his mother. She says she doesn’t really know what she’s doing or how she can make her idea work in practice.
Even though Charlie is cute and doesn’t have much field experience, she’s not weak or stupid. When people insult her or openly ridicule her ideals, Charlie is able to stand up for herself and even fight. She doesn’t mind using curse words.
Charlie’s idealism has its limits, and she understands that not all demons can be redeemed or even changed for the better. She is hesitant when Alastor offers her a deal, refuses to shake his hand, and uses her status as the princess of Hell to make demands of him (albeit self-conscious about it).
Charlie Puth now:
In 2022, the singer worked on a new album, Charlie, the third in his creative biography. The performer presented songs from this collection: That’s Hilarious, Left and Right (in collaboration with Jungkook from BTS) and the hit Light Switch, which went platinum in Canada and silver in England.
An ambiguous video for the song about love Left and Right, where only Charlie, Jungkook and a psychotherapist appear, as well as Puta’s provocative words about the beauty of the South Korean singer, caused a scandal: fans of the K-pop group BTS accused the American of wanting to gain popularity with the help of their idol .
Charlie called on ARMY to stop sending angry messages on social networks and not waste time on “made-up nonsense.”
